Trainings for the Learning about L.I.F.E. program are offered several times a year at the TYME OUT Youth Center in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Sister Kieran is also scheduled to present trainings at various sites across the country.  Click here for a list of upcoming trainings.  To schedule a training in your area, contact Sister Kieran Sawyer.

Four easy steps...
to register for FacilitatorTraining

1. Consider who will be trained to facilitate this material.  We have designed a sample invitation which you may wish to use to help attract a special volunteer or staff person to this unique calling. It may also serve as your own personal invitation.

2. Attend Training A  This is a one-day course from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with lunch included.  This day is recommended for those who want to learn about the program (principals, pastors, parish catechetical leaders, parents) as well as for those who intend to actually  facilitate the program.

  • Gives an overview of the Learning about L.I.F.E.  program, including the supporting theological and catechetical principles. 
  • Includes teaching techniques specific to family-based and/or intergenerational programming.  These are provided by the author, Kathie Amidei, known for her pioneering and successful work in lifelong learning.
  • Provides an opportunity to network with others who are involved with relationship education and abuse prevention training.
  • Discusses related issues like mandatory reporting and use of the learningaboutlife website.
  • Can be attended independent of Training B.

3. Attend Training B   This day, designed to follow Training A, gives detailed training for those who plan to facilitate either the three Lower Level sessions (grades K through 4), the three Upper Level sessions (grades 5 through 10), or both. 

  • Covers the developmental needs of the target level participants.
  • Presents interactive material in an interactive format...a fun way to learn.
  • Includes a networking lunch for those attending both levels.
  • Upper Level Course (9:00 am till noon) is training to facilitate sessions for families with childlren in grades 5 and 6, grades 7 and 8, and grades 9 and 10.
  • Lower Level Course (1:00 pm till 3:00 pm) is training to facilitate sessions for families with children in PreK and K, grades 1 and 2, and grades 3 and 4.
